Facebook on the roadshow : an image : looks to be successful !
facebook roadshow at wall street!
from around the web:
There has a been some web activity on items shared on google, twitter, etc .
GOOGLE: We are seeing over 1 billion items shared and received in a single day
Twitter : 350 billion Tweets Shared
Here’s a diagram to help you see how google got the numbers. Explanation after the image:
A simple way to understand:
This is simple chain reaction. A Post or comment triggers a lot of share. I am sure google means “number of these fanout + shares” as number of share in google plus. This is an engineering point of view.
This a simple view of how sharing is done. Interesting problem is to get a user all the current share in real time and with big scale.
Interesting problem!
This is one of my favorite questions to ask people. Primarily computer science people, as they always get this one wrong ![]()
The problem is quite simple. You are given 8 identical-looking balls, one of which is heavier than the other 7 (all of which weigh the same). Using an old-fashioned mechanical set of scales you must identify the heavier ball using the scale as few times as possible. The scale is constructed using two bowls and an arm enabling the bowls to either balance or have one bowl rising while the other (and heavier bowl) falling. You can’t just add one ball at a time thinking its one weighing, however, you may put any number of balls in each bowl… All you need to solve the puzzle is to use a bit of common sense.
CLUE : in 2 steps can be done. 3 is too easy
Trying out BuddyPress and WordPress on EC2. Able to install using bitnet, but some work still to go.
Today PC world posted an article :Kindle Sells Out: 5 Reasons Amazon Shouldn’t Celebrate
My opinion: Article to get more google search engine impression , page hits. Indeed got landed on Google news!
For each point:
1) Watch Out for Falling Profits : Amazon does emphasize that, the idea behind selling kindle is to sell Ebooks. $170 reduction prices, they just need to sell that many ebook mores. Assuming 30% cut (as apple / facebook charges, standard fees), it just needs to sell around $566.66 worth of ebooks to cut even, that is around 60 books for $10 each. Avid book reader does not wince at buying a $10 book, and many will spend that much for a year. Book buying is addictive. And Amzn did say that it sells more ebooks per year.
2) Is $189 Still Too Expensive : maybe expensive. But it is priced to market. AMZN can go negative to get more ebook sales.
3) Sales Stats Unknown : Why would AMZN worry about this. They know the stats. Total useless point.
4) iPad : Prices difference makes Kindle useful. Kindle addresses a totally different market. Education. Parents will more than willing to get a kindle, than an iPad. Its targeted towards education. No need to worry, its totally different market segment.
5) Multi Function Device: Kindle has less to worry about multi function device. Kindle Software is supported on all the devices. iPad should worry more about the multi functional devices.
Summary: There are reasons for AMZN to be cheerful. It just discovered the power of bulk selling at low profits.

Google AdWord Email excerpt: (http://99tokens.com)
I see that this Analytics account is not linked to your AdWords account. You can match AdWords and Analytics data only when your AdWords and Analytics accounts are linked and cost data is applied. Until then the data won’t match. Please link your accounts to be able to see AdWords data in Analytics. As of now your Analytics account does not have any clicks or visits recorded in the AdWords campaigns report.
If I do this, then I loose independent verification of AdWords / Analytics data. Both AdWords and Analytics are owned by google, and should I trust them?
And ROI does not seem to be huge for me.

Starting a new venture, http://99tokens.com, I have been looking to get some traction. Obviously, Adwords comes into picture. I picked up the keywords, set my daily budget, made campaigns, and waited for traffic.
On monday morning, I see that there few extra visits to website, and google analytics summarize as :
Top Traffic Sources : google (organic) 12
But the adwords account paints other picture:
Clicks : 40 , impressions : 12,273
TO NOTE:
Any insight would be useful !
I was charged $10 for 40 clicks. Not cheap for a individual publisher!

This link validates the hypothesis.
